are you sarah?

Today’s Blog is a bit of a continuation of yesterdays. I was reminded of the story of Abraham & Sarah yesterday, when I was asking a question.

God told Abraham he would be the father of a great nation. With desendents as plentiful as the grains of sand and the stars in the sky. Well, it appeared for awhile that God’s promise to Abraham was for not.

So, Sarah, decides to take things into her own hands and give Abraham her handmaiden. As we know in the end, God DID grant Abraham & Sarah with a son. From that grew the Jewish nation, the children of Israel.

Ok, now I don’t think any of us are wanting to birth a new nation. However, God has promises for us as well. Are we going to be like Sarah and try to help things along or are we going to just really trust God?

yes...no...waiting

Being a Christian is a challenge at times. We all have our struggles and issues, I guess if we didn’t we wouldn’t need Christ.

Lately, I have been in prayer about some things that are pressing in my life. My usual prayer is Lord I want Your will to become my will and Your heart to become my heart and that the Holy Spirit helps me to be willing for that to happen. I feel that this is what we are called to do.

I did have a good conversation with Ms. DeDaw the other day. She says Miss Melody, "I have a job opportunity and I am just going to tell God that this is what I want." I was like hmmmm.

It got me to thinking...should I be more specific in my prayers? It is a hard thing, knowing what to pray. So in some areas of my life I have decided that I am going to start praying specifically. One thing in particular. It has been the ‘wait’ answer. There hasn’t been a yes or a no, just this wait and see mode. Ya know, sometimes times, that gets OLD. I was praying the other day and I said, "I am tired of the MAYBE answer, can I get something definite here?" Have I? Uhmmmmmm…..No. Just more waiting.

So, where does that leave me? I guess I need to pray for God to help me accept where I am and to continue to ask the Holy Spirit to help guide my heart and that my choices will be what God wants.

SOOOO, there ya go. I do think that God does want us to be specific in our prayers, at the same time, we need to remember that things do not come in our time. *grumble, grumble* AND more importantly we need to pray that God will give us the patience that we need and that He will continue to show us what He desires.

caffiene is NOT your friend

Nothing really insightful today. Just me rambling.

My motto used to be 'caffiene is your friend'. Friends, let me tell you that is a lie.

As most of you know I have been decaffeinated for well over a month now. Well, I have had insomnia again for the past week, starting on Saturday night, so it has been about a week of not a lot of sleep. This morning I was DRAGGING. So, I let myself partake in some liquid refreshment.

Can I tell you what a mistake that was? I am driving myself crazy. It is like I am a totally different person. I just emailed a good friend of mine and asked, “How in the WORLD did you ever put up with me?” The other day same friend and I were heading somewhere and he asks, "Are you ok?" I said, "Yes, this is just how I am now, quietly decaffienated." It is quite lovely.

The moral of the story is…caffeine is NOT your friend and you should stay away from it.

HEY, tomorrow is my birthday! I’ll be 35 years old…old as dirt. I’ll have to post one of the more recent pictures of myself…I know I still look good.

Have a great weekend all!

taking things for granted

Do you have things in your life that you take for granted? Your home, your car, your friends & loved ones?

I have been thinking a lot about that, especially with some relationships that I have. There are some people that I do take for granted and there are people that take me for granted. OF course I have more of an issue with the later of the two. he he

With the recent disaster with Hurricane Katrina, We should look at our lives and really be grateful for the things we have. Especially, friends and loved ones. Think about those who you have in your life. Have you called them recently or even told them that you appreciate them and that you care about them and what they mean to you?

I know we all get busy with work and life, however, I think we really need to think of those who love us and let them know that we care as well. Really realize how much we do have to be grateful for.

Just a thought.
